About
Life as a military brat involved the usual disruptions, opportunities, and changes of scenery and culture- all formative for the artist. Brandenburg moved up and down the Atlantic and Gulf coasts of the United States and to Germany twice. After high school, she studied art for a term in Florida followed by a term at University of Maryland, Munich campus. Then, briefly, went on with the family to Teheran, Iran. Later, at Humboldt State University in Arcata, California she earned an undergraduate degree in Fine Arts, with emphasis in Philosophy. There, she won the Van Duzer scholarship for painting, drawing, and black and white photography. Oregon based since 1985, while focused on family, recovery work, graduate school, and a career in counseling, she kept to daily creative practice, drawing, writing, painting. Now retired, and committed to oil painting as her primary focus, the verbs are much the same - cultivating presence, seeing in, uncovering. Her intention is to calm, surprise and quicken the spirit of the viewer.
